Too Quiet

Nothing. I have nothing to say. At all. Hence the lack of blog-tivity lately. But I did take a really nice, relaxing late Autumn walk last night and had three marvelous songs pop up via the shuffle mode. And since this space was going unused, i figured I'd fill it with those songs.

Stunning library employee -

I was speachless when I saw your beautiful, pale green eyes. I had to focus just to find my library card because I was taken aback by your soft white skin. Inside, I prayed that your hand would touch mine when I handed you my card so maybe, if only for one breif moment, we could could linger and share that moment.
I've been looking for an excuse to approach you, but it seems inappropriate while your working, BUT my books are almost due!!!
I just wanted to say that you are the most beautiful lady that I have set eyes on in years. I'll send you a wink next time I'm there so maybe you'll know who I am.
Until then!

This one was really romantic for about 15 seconds...then it went SRAIGHT to creepy, and we all know there is NO coming back from creepy.

My Sweet Lord

Any day Jim James releases new music is a good day in my book, but when said music is a tribute to George Harrison, you have the makings of something beautiful.
The My Morning Jacket frontman has released a great six song record entitled 'Tribute To' under the name Yim Yames. Jim James + George Harrison songs = bliss.

I think the music was Joy Division. I think I had a few drinks as well. But I was intoxicated by something else- your body. Your glorious, goddess-granted gyrations of pure expression. It was like you were channeling some otherworldly vision, full of desire. You were in your own world and that's what we had in common. The rest of the space, the people and all of reality slipped away- not just for a moment- but for a length of time that I have no way of calculating, no point of reference.
You knew I was watching and that turned you on. I can only muse at the command you have over your body. I can only long for that same attention to detail. Perhaps it is in fact a connection. Of body to feeling, of desire to action.
In the absence of some sort of label or name for this connection, I'll refer to physical evidence: a blue-black, fading mark on my skin confirming the truth of this experience.

Who let the emo kid into 80's night last night? They will totally ruin the party.
For the musical portion of today's dedication...I am bypassing the 80's AND emo....just because I wanted to hear some My Morning Jacket.

Craigslist Musical Dedication Of The Day
Dreamy... (Cincinnati area)

I may just have the perfect Dream for you. Not typical at all. Take your mind away on a fantasy all your own.
I learned massage in St Louis and Cincinnati. There I did not learn the erotic massage but not long after massaging professionally I found that most women want more. However working professionally that is not possible if I want to hold a job. So I developed the art of erotic massage through research and practice. It goes very well with a full body massage. It is truly amazing.
Casual private and Discrete, that's me. Here is how casual - I can come to your room or home and give you a "full body erotic massage" leaving you completely satisfied and relaxed. You will love it. My intension is to see you experience complete physical pleasure from head to toe.
I can even show up, not say a word, give you that total massage including an orgasm if you like and be on my way. You just let me know what you would prefer. This is especially nice for the ladies who have never experienced an orgasm. My full body erotic massage comes with an orgasm guaranteed.
A full body massage relaxes you first, it can be so relaxing it can put you to sleep and ten minutes later you feel totally rejuvenated. The reason for that is your blood circulation is greatly increased in areas massaged. While at the relaxed state where sexual arousal is introduced it is very stimulating. If you prefer, there will be no insertions of any kind. No need to tell me what feels good to you, I know what feels good. The thing is you have no need to perform for anyone. This massage is for you alone. You can even put on your headphones listen to some nice music close your eyes and imagine what where or whom ever you like.
******
Just a quick public service announcement - it would probably be a good idea to steer clear of guys who are offering their masseuse services on craigslist. He cleverly leaves out the part of the experience in which you are cut up into like 50 pieces and buried underneath his mom's basement.

An ode to hot librarians everywhere

How do I love Jim James? Let me count the ways...
Nah, to many to count...but how can you not love a guy who is able to name check Karen Carpenter in the same song in which he waxes romantic about his local librarian. The man is a certifiable genius in my book.

New My Morning Jacket

I wanted to go on record and say that the new My Morning Jacket album, 'Evil Urges' is as good or better than anything they have recorded to date. More mellow as a whole, and the band is even tinkering around with some electronic sounds...but worry not, it is still at heart a rock n roll record, and Jim James has raised the level of his songwriting yet again.
Here is one of my favorites from the album, which hits stores in early June.

Coacheall artist a day...8 days to go

First up is My Morning Jacket...a band that I am dying to see live again. They absolutely burned down the stage at Lolla last year, and I wouldn't miss this set for anything. 'Evelyn Is Not Real' is off of their Tennessee Fire release.

And for the other artist, I think I will go with Black Mountain...a band I am just getting into, but they are shooting up my list of 'sets not to miss'.

Notes from the background
*-*
I wish I hadn't been there. Positively trainwreck street. And I wanted to like this movie SO bad. I love Bob Dylan, and I was even buying in on the gimmick of having 6 different actors playing the 6 different 'versions' of the singer/songwriter, but the execution of the idea was painful to watch at times.
This movie just couldn't get out of it's own way. Every time it started to pick up steam, it would cut to Richard Gere as the 'cowboy/rancher Dylan' and totally screech to a halt. The entire movie, but the Gere scenes especially were filled with overly dramatic, self-gratifying symbolism that was over my head and at times hard to watch.
All of the Dylan's were lacking too I thought. They ranged from laughably bad(Christian Bale as the early folkie) to so-so impressions(Cate Blanchette as the androgynous Dlyan, who just finished every sentence with 'man')...honestly, I thought the most interesting scenes were the ones about the movie star, iconic Dylan played by Heath Ledger and those were far too few and far too short.
I think a total of 4 people actually walked out before it was over, and there was a dog in the theater...yes, a dog. Not sure why, the guy wasn't blind, but whatever...and even the dog started howling at about the half way point. Not one person got up and complained, we all just laughed...it was the first time we had been entertained for about an hour.
Thanks Todd Haynes, for taking the career of the greatest songwriter ever and turning it into your failed film school thesis...i want my $6 back.
PS
The only reason it gets the second star is because of the incredible performance of 'Going To Alcupocco' by Jim James of My Morning Jacket...by far the highlight of the film.

My Morning Jacket - Covered

One of the highlights of last August's Lollapalooza in Chicago was stumbling across the Kids Stage and finding Jim James of My Morning Jacket, armed only with a banjo, covering the Muppets song 'Rainbow Connection'...a beautiful moment.
Here are a couple of my favorite MMJ covers that I have collected...I am convinced Jim could be singing the phone book and I would be enthralled.

Monthly Mix Tape
Mission Statement
Kids out on the east coast.
Roughly twenty years old.
Got coaxed out by a certain perfect ratio.
Of warm beer to the summer smoke.
And the meat loaf to the billy joel.
Certain songs they get so scratched into our souls.
She goes low on the seats when she gets high in her car.
She looks shallow but shes neck deep in the steamy dreams of the guys along the harbor bars.
She's pulling out her shirttails and jacking up her socks.
Stern and stoned and confident, coming up towards the jukebox.
Born into the only songs that everybody finally sings along.
B-1 is for the good girls.
It's only the good die young.
C-9 is for the making eyes.
It's paradise by the dashboard light.
D4 is for the lovers.
B12 is for the speeders.
And the hard drugs are for the bartenders and the kitchen workers and the bartender's friends.
And they're playing it again.
Ellen Foley gives us hope.
Certain songs they get scratched into our souls.
I guess you're old enough to know.
Kids out on the west coast are taking off their clothes.
Screwing in the surf and going out to shows.
They get high and ride around in gtos.
I guess you're old enough to know.
CERTAIN SONGS THEY GET SCRATCHED INTO OUR SOULS.
