Audio Nostalgia: All Hands On The Bad One

I was just hanging out last night, listening to some older records that I hadn't heard in awhile and I totally got stuck on Sleater-Kinney's 'All Hands On The Bad One.' I have so many awesome memories that are forever tethered to this album. I remember sneaking into Little Brothers with my friend Carrie to see SK on this tour, and then buying what to this day may be my all time favorite show t-shirt - a light blue T with a cat on it with "All Hands On The Bad One" in plain text above. I miss that shirt. And I think I fell in love with Corin Tucker for about 90 minutes that night...an absolute rock goddess!

Good times, good times...

Hey what's up pussycats I'm new to this computer thing, but I'm just here for the most awesome, fun, rockin, kickass, kinky, tight-ass-rad-sexy chick in the city- bonus points if you are heavy metal. Basically I just need a counterpart to my sleek, excellent self. Personality is my main focus, but if I look better in spandex than you (which is very possible) or if my hair looks better than yours, then I'm going to have to pass. You have to be at least hovering around my level of sexiness- it's only fair. To the extent of my knowledge, I'm free of permanent diseases and quit the hard drugs a few days ago. I like to party, rock, fuck, and have a great time, but believe it or not I'm actually smarter than the Jetta-driving, striped-shirt collar-popping, snobby, condescending, valet-demanding, arena district frequenting young professional (with heads up their asses) douchebags you'll see ravaging this city like a plague. My main goals here are to just spread the germs of Heavy Metal and rock n roll while making your life as interesting, dangerous, and entertaining as possible, but you know maybe, if you really kick alot of ass, I might not stray too much and I'll entertain and satisfy you when it's convenient. I'm also extremely sensitive and I like to listen when you're saying what I want to hear. I use commas excessively and grammatically incorrectly, but I don't really care dude they're fun. Shoot me up- I mean shoot me back something exciting loves!

xoxoxoxo muah- more tongue next time please :P

Sleater-Kinney - 'You're No Rock N Roll Fun'

Musical Movie Review: "Funny Games"

This is a remake of a 1997 Austrian thriller of the same name(both directed by Michael Haneke.) and it features the SCARIEST bad guys I have seen in a thriller in a long time - two white, upper class looking young men who are ripped RIGHT out of the pages of J Crew. Horrifying I know. Add to their already creepy look a penchant for homicide and sadistic torture, as well as a flare for psychological terror, and you have two excellent bad guys. The yuppie maniacs are played by Michael Pitt(excellent as the dominant one) and Brady Corbet(as the not so smart one).

Naomi Watts and Tim Roth play the rich vacationing couple who are unlucky enough to cross paths with the two heavies. Once the villains make their way into the couple's lives, 90 minutes of terror are right behind them. Very bad things.

An above average thriller that is well worth renting.

Missing Sleater-Kinney

That awful moment of the breakup when they last of the stuff is being moved out of the apartment. It's brutal. And Corin Tucker and company capture all of that angst in this killer track.

The song says the rest...cue the music

She was no rock n roll fun

The impetus of this post is rooted in in what I saw last night in the usually dull aisles of the local Ralph's supermarket. It was there that I witnessed what has to go down as one of the all time best 'take me home' fights in the history of dating.

These two were having it out right in the middle of the frozen foods aisle. So of course i pretended to be a serious shopper and perused the frozen pizzas for like 5 minutes as they exchanged accusations. When things get that bad at the grocery store, not a good sign. I tell you this from experience. Sometimes, you get to a point in a relationship(SOME relationships)... that even trips to the store end in arguments. I have been down that road, and the view is not so good. When you get to that place that every little thing the person does gets under your skin...get out and save your sanity!

Charles Bukowski says "There are worse things than being alone." And he could not have been more right. I lived with a girl for a year once. Not a wise decision. She was a great person, but not someone I could see myself with for the long haul...I mean she liked the show 'Friends'...NO, she REALLY liked the show friends. I was always dragging her to shows of bands that she had never heard of and she would drag me to some of the worst movies ever made. It was like an ongoing contest of 'who can torture who the best.'

Whoa! This rambling post totally got off track...my mind veers off easily...that ADD kicks in at the most inopportune times. Back to the original fight that I saw at the grocery store...the one insult I heard that had me come home and put this little play list together was the girl screeching '...oh no, if you leave me does that mean I will never get to go spend another saturday night sitting on your couch while you play video games.' She won the fight in my opinion. That comment was the clincher...they were still bickering, but I bolted...you can only pretend to look at frozen pizzas for so long.

So...in honor of her victory, i put together this brief angry girl mix(only 7 songs - i call it the 'Hell Hath No Fury' EP)...with the first song being especially dedicated to that girl I used to live with. I hope she finds her Ross someday.
