Walk, revisit, repeat

One of my absolute joys in life is the simple act of taking a walk. I love grabbing my mp3 player, turning it on shuffle, and then just take off walking. It is so great to get lost in my own head for a bit, all the while rocking out to a great soundtrack.

And a killer side effect of this love of mine is that every time I do take a walk I stumble across a handful of awesome songs that I had totally forgotten about. Luckily for me, I am in horrible shape - so I get totally winded before too long, allowing me to remember the tunes that made me smile with sentimental glee. And now, the miracle of blogging...I will share last nights gems with you:

God what a great rock album Gish is...and did it REALLY come out in 1991?? Man the years are falling off like leaves...

Why's 'Alopecia' record is easily one of the coolest albums of the year...but this is a track I hadn't paid much attention to. I have this really bad habit of getting stuck on certain songs on albums I love...my resolution for 2009 is to work on this.

Long live Ted Leo. Really. Does anyone right better, more infectious power pop songs than he does? This one is from last year's brilliant 'Living With The Living.'

Tulsa reminds me so much of Nada Surf, in the best kinda way. That's another one where I sort of obsessed over one track and lost the other album songs in the process, so I was quite grateful when 'Shaker' popped up via the shuffle.

Craigslist Musical Dedication Of The Day

INTELLIGENT, cultured, 22y/o wm seeking Asian women (pref. Nihonese)

Date: 2008-10-16, 3:29AM EDT

Hello ladies of the internet!

I am here today, as are you, to find the love of my life ideally. Now, I am an introspective and reflective man so over my life I've come to realise exactly what I'm looking for in my ideal woman.

Personally, I am 22 years old, my name is Perseus, I am attending U of T in the final year of my Engineering degree, and I am a little on the chubby side. I am a dedicated Green party voter and staunchly opposed to the Conversative hordes dashing themselves against the impregnable Liberal/NDP/Green keep of our fine enlightened city. I am fond of discussing philosophy and the meaning of life over a glass of wine in the 'even. As hobbies go, I am an avid gamer and enjoy delving into the myriad artistic realities of animé (the origin of my affinity for Asian culture, which is frankly superior).

You MUST fulfill the following requirements:
- Asian
- Woman
- Aged NO MORE THAN 23
- - and NO LESS THAN 16
- Petite build. Ideally no more than 115 lbs.
- - but no 'Paris Hilton' bulimics please! I like my women with some meat on them.
- Like sushi, animé, and video games.

BONUSES include:
- Japanese heritage
- Large collection of animé and manga
- Glasses
- Interest in cosplay and roleplaying
- Traditional Ladies' education

I must stress again that this is for a SERIOUS, long term relationship. Not some 'fling' as though I were a boy toy to be tossed aside.

All The Albums I've Loved Before: "Pisces Iscariot"

I always get nostalgic this time of year. Something about the leaves falling and the air cooling just takes me back I guess. I was thinking back to that ever so brief moment in time when the Smashing Pumpkins were the biggest band on the planet. Remember when 'Melon Collie...' came out and you couldn't turn on the radio with out hearing Billy Corgan screaming at you or flip on MTV and not see the Pumpkins in video form. Good times indeed.

Anway, all of that nostalgia eventually gets me to Pisces Iscariot - which is in my opinion the best b-sides/outtakes album ever. So many great songs on here. I will post two of my favorite...SP's take on the Fleetwood Mac classic 'Landslide'...and a rocker, 'Frail And Bedazzled.'

Interpretation is in the ear of the guy with the microphone I guess. What Billy Corgan and the Smashing Pumpkins made sound like a bitter, grunge-era rocker about a confusing relationship, singer/songwriter Adem turns into a hopeful sounding acoustic number. Or maybe I was just having a really good day....either way, never understimate the effect of a good cover.

I think this guy just blew what ever chance he had with this girl by accidentally insulting her occupation...not so smooth.

Lovely blond girl working at The Soldiery

I'm sure you get hit on all the time by the guys hanging out there. No worries. I'm not a regular, so please don't get creeped out.

My question is this: Seriously, you are smoking hot. Not just attractive, but jaw-droppingly gorgeous. What the hell are you doing working in a store that sells Dungeons and Dragons books?

Seeing you there was like finding a rose in the middle of a sewer. Not that there's anything wrong with Dungeons and Dragons or the people who play it, of course.

This mystery will haunt me until my dying day.
