Don’t ask me why I obsessively look to rock ’n’ roll bands for some kind of model for a better society. I guess it’s just that I glimpsed something beautiful in a flashbulb moment once, and perhaps mistaking it for prophecy have been seeking its fulfillment ever since.

It's not often - or ever - that you will find me posting Christmas music on here, but when said Christmas music comes from a dear friend who doubles as a talented singer/songwriter I bend the rules.
Checkout and please feel free to download my friend Henry's(aka Me And The Horse I Rode In On) newly recorded Xmas tune...it's a beautiful track. For more of his music, be sure to check out his myspace page too!
Tomorrow, on his birthday no less, my great friend Henry Toft(his rock star alter ego is Me And The Horse I Rode In On) is getting to play as the opening act to one of his favorite musicians, Damien Jurado. I can't imagine a better birthday present...Good luck man, I know you will rock the house with your gorgeously sullen acoustic folk rock...no sleep til Copenhagen!!!
My friend Henry Toft has released his second EP, 'Home And Other Places I'd Like To Visit'...and it is so, so good. I just wanted to pass along my favorite track off of the record...if you like what you hear, you can pick it up on Itunes now...thanks as always for listening! Me And The Horse I Rode In On - 'Girls Who Make Mixtapes' MP3
What started as a trip planned out on a whim out of anxiety over turning 30 five years ago, has turned into an annual pilgrimage for me! The three day Coachella music festival is easily my favorite weekend of the year.
The dates were just released...April 17,18, and 19. See you on the Polo Field!!
Here is a tune from my friend Henry, who is also a super talented singer/songwriter from Denmark recording under the name Me And The Horse I Rode In On. He came with us last year for his first ever Coachella excursion, and was so blown away he wrote a song about it...this new song 'Indio' is available on his new EP 'Home And Other Places I'd Like To Visit'...more information on that and you can hear more of his music here, on his myspace page:
It's not every day that one of my really good friends covers and records a song by one of my favorite bands...yeah, I had to post it.
'Me And The Horse I Rode In On' is Danish singer/songwriter(and all around great guy) Henry Toft. I just wanted to pass a long his version of the Avett Brothers tune 'The Weight Of Lies'...a beautiful rendition of a gorgeous song.
Henry is an artist in the truest sense of the word. He paid out of his own pocket to record and package hid debut EP...which he is giving away! How beautiful is that? To get information or to check out some more of his music, go here: http://www.myspace.com/meandthehorse
This song is a real privilege to pass along. Not only am I a big fan of this artist, but I consider him a friend.
The artist in question is Henry Toft, aka 'Me And The Horse I Rode In On.' He makes incredible music from his home studio in Denmark and is an artist in the truest sense of the word, in it for the love of music, period. Here is a link to his EP, 'Ghost Hospital' which he wants you to have...for free!
Thanks for listening, enjoy. And if you like his stuff feel free to drop by his myspace page and leave him a comment: http://www.myspace.com/meandthehorse
i took it upon myself to 'direct' a lo-fi video for my friend Henry in Denmark. I just love the song and it seems as though mix tapes were a big theme this weekend for me...so there you have it...s y'all at the VMA's
...or my email is anyway! Hey, it's me Blair...the Certain Songs staff of one. I just do this for the love of the music and am in no way trying to rip anybody off, so if you are an artist or a record label and you are not happy that I am promoting your music, or you want me to take a song down, just shoot me an email and I will most definitely oblige.
And please support the artists I post here in whatever way you can if you do download a song...go to a show, buy some merch, buy an album...these songs are the soundtrack to my life and I just love to share them. But I can only do that if the insanely talented artist responsible for said songs are able to eat.
I also love hearing new stuff...so any submissions can also be sent to my email, I will try my bestest to listen to everything and get back to you all...peace,love,rock n' roll.

Mission Statement
I guess you're old enough to know. Kids out on the east coast. Roughly twenty years old. Got coaxed out by a certain perfect ratio. Of warm beer to the summer smoke. And the meat loaf to the billy joel. Certain songs they get so scratched into our souls.
She goes low on the seats when she gets high in her car. She looks shallow but shes neck deep in the steamy dreams of the guys along the harbor bars. She's pulling out her shirttails and jacking up her socks. Stern and stoned and confident, coming up towards the jukebox. Born into the only songs that everybody finally sings along. B-1 is for the good girls. It's only the good die young. C-9 is for the making eyes. It's paradise by the dashboard light. D4 is for the lovers. B12 is for the speeders. And the hard drugs are for the bartenders and the kitchen workers and the bartender's friends. And they're playing it again. Ellen Foley gives us hope. Certain songs they get scratched into our souls.
I guess you're old enough to know. Kids out on the west coast are taking off their clothes. Screwing in the surf and going out to shows. They get high and ride around in gtos. I guess you're old enough to know. CERTAIN SONGS THEY GET SCRATCHED INTO OUR SOULS. - The Hold Steady
