Very few people have the skill of turning their gut-wrenching heartache into a three minute pop music masterpiece. Mark Oliver Everett - aka 'E' of the Eels - has this skill. Or maybe it's a burden, I'm not sure. Either way, most of my favorite Eels songs are the ones that everybody can relate to, but nobody ever wants to. The songs that rip your heart out, but leave you all the better for it. Songs like this one I am sharing, off of the soon to be released 'End Times' LP.

Few people in modern music are as good as turning their angst over unrequited love into a great 4 minute pop song as Mark Oliver Everett, aka E from the Eels.
I have been checking out some songs from his forthcoming 'Hombre Lobo: 12 Songs Of Desire' album, which will hit stores June 2nd. This track I am sharing is especially grand...vintage E...a bit melancholy, but oh so tuneful.

So, I have a strange fetish. I like to wear adult diapers. No, I'm not a pedophile! I just like to wear adult diapers and like to meet other adults that are into the same. This popped up on my shuffle today and I have been smiling since. It's the Eels take on 'Get Your Freak On', yeah, the Missy Elliot tune.
This, along with close to 50 other 'rarities' can be found on the set Useless Trinkets that E and the band released earlier this year. I still haven't gotten all the way through it...lots of hidden gems in there though.

I have been listening to a TON of Daniel Johnston stuff lately. When life starts getting complicated, his simple, poignant way of telling stories via his songs does the soul so well. If you don't already have it RUN to the record store and get this tribute album, "Discovered Covered: A Tribute To Daniel Johnston"...its a double CD set, with both the originals and an amazing cast of artists like Bright Eyes, Death Cab For Cutie, Beck, and so many more doing their favorite DJ songs.
