Certain Songs

Romantic as in this song reminded me for some reason today of my first crush on an older woman. Comedy as in it was funny because I never had a chance, I was so not cool in high school(I am so not cool now, imagine a not quite as tall, much skinnier, WAY awkwarder version of me...yeah, a real lady killer).

I was a freshman in high school, and the victim - er, object of my affection was Julia, a beautiful senior. If memory serves, she made the mistake of talking to me at marching band practice one day(marching band, see how cool i was?) and the crush was on. I will never forget, she looked JUST like Alyssa Milano did on the later 'Who's The Boss?' years...so seriously, how could I not fall head over heels?

I must have worked myself into a frenzy attempting to talk to her about 3 times a day during band camp that summer, always to chicken out due to nerves. Although I was sure if I could just poetically express my love for her, we would have been great together. I just couldn't conquer my fear of girls, and Julia became the first on a long list of one who got away! After high school I never saw her again, and I am sure I bounced over to the next hopeless crush in a week or so...but you never forget the first, do you?
