A Woman A Man Walked By

I have been listening to PJ Harvey's music for the past 17 years and I still get excited when she releases new records. There are only a handful of artists that I have followed for so long and are still so relevant to me. Thank you Polly Jean, for the years of motivation, inspiration, and just plain blessed distraction.

Her latest release is a joint effort with John Parish entitled "A Woman A Man Walked By" and it will be in stores on March 31st. Here is a little sneak preview...

Just because....

Sometimes I feel like I need to treat this blog as some sort of time capsule. I just want to randomly post some of the songs from my formative years...so they don't go gently into the good night.

I guess that is the only reason for this post. Future generations need to hear the unbridled angst of Polly Jean Harvey...

Covering PJ Harvey...and others

London singer/songwriter Adem put's his nu-folk spin on a set full of covers on his latest album, 'Takes'.

Along with this KILLER version of a PJ Harvey song that I have posted, he offers up versions of artists like dEUS, Yo La Tengo, The Breeders,Low, Aphex Twin, and more. A great record, check it out.

All the albums I have loved before: "To Bring You My Love"

PJ Harvey's 1995 LP "To Bring You My Love" is easily my favorite Polly Jean record. The follow up to her breakthrough, 92's "Dry"... it is dark, brooding, and beautiful.

Ethereal vocals layed over layer after dark layer of sound. Tracks like 'Cmon Billy', 'Down By The Water', and the title cut are standouts.
